As a sport specific activity, or used for its specific elements as a modality incorporated separately within Fitness or Educational programming; Fencing footwork and drill has numerous benefits.

Martial Arts Movement and Drill
Similar to Fencing footwork and drill, however, with the added incorporation of punching and kicking.
Specifically, the development of compound movement (movement that involve multiple muscular interactions, involving both upper and lower body).
The development of muscular processes that are involved with neurological recruitment of patterns involved in lifting of the arms/feet, extension, recoil, core stability, diaphragmatic breathing, movement projection, stability.
Pad work (punch pads, kick shields) is employed, to create an awareness of the proper and efficient use of force through the arms and legs.
As a sport specific activity, or used for its specific components as a rehabilitation, modality for development (cognitive, physical, emotional). Can be incorporated into Fitness or Educational programming to benefit function first goals.
